While the discipline of Market Intelligence has been around for a while, Strategic Foresight is relatively a new method/not used in industries across the board. The typical methods focus on the competition and the larger industry at play, but disruptions often come far off industries/disconnected industries. An odd scientific phenomenon, a weird startup or a wayward consumer profile – may all seem disconnected in the beginning. But they are often the drivers of change that will eventually affect the future in dramatic ways, to the extent of making an entire industry irrelevant.

If we look at the term “trend” or “megatrend,” they can be widely found in articles, journals, and much more, but they are open for interpretation. The moot question is, How does one make sense of it and make it actionable?
The Strategic Foresight Masterclass takes you through the journey of understanding the broad contours of Futures Studies in terms of methods and business applications with a specific focus on megatrends and scenarios. This will help you address the following questions:
– How does one figure out the most relevant trend for their context?
– How can the senior management use them to craft the contours of their future vision?
– How does one place long term bets on hitherto ‘untested approaches’ and deploy scarce resources optimally

Meet your Instructor

Manoj is a serial entrepreneur, Design Thinking practitioner & a Futurist with two decades of experience in leading global design-led innovation mandates. Currently, Manoj leads Turian Labs, a Design Thinking and Innovation Strategy consulting company based in India, which he co-founded in 2015. He also co-founded earlier Onio Design Pvt. Ltd.- a leading product design company and ITERNIA – a digital branding company.
Manoj has led Megatrends and Foresights engagement with some leading global organisations like Volkswagen, Samsung, LG, Aditya Birla Group, Mahindra group and Government of Finland. He pioneered megatrend reports for India way back in 2006 and co-organized annual event on megatrends, called ‘IndiaNxt’ in collaboration with Style-Vision (France), Copenhagen Institute of Future Studies, NIFT (Delhi) and IDC-IIT (Mumbai).
He speaks on design and innovation at several global forums. He is a visiting faculty at several institutes including ISB (Hyderabad) and at NID (Ahmedabad) for strategic design and innovation. His other interests stretch across philosophy, poetry & living light.
He is a mechanical engineering graduate of Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai (1992) and a post-graduate in Product Design from National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, India (1997).
